Building the future distillery 01.04.1992
We started to single-handedly establish a company that would become a distillery many years later. Of course, we didn’t know that back then.
At the time, we ran a metal-working shop. Automatic spindle lathes, milling cutters, drilling machines, and so on. We were offered an opportunity to start production of brass components for plastic water distribution systems. And when you get such an opportunity, you have to make full use of it.
In retrospect, it was quite an audacious move. My parents had no experience in metal-working. My father, Josef Žufánek, was a winemaker, beekeeper, and fruit-grower by training. He spent his whole life in orchards and vineyards. But metal-working provided a livelihood to us back then after 1989 and there would no distillery without it.
